NZCCM 2019: what we learned

This year, Articheck were proud to be oversea sponsors of New Zealand Conservators of Cultural Materials’ (NZCCM) annual conference.

If that was a bit far for you to travel, have no fear, we’ve collated our favourite tweets and Instagram posts from the event below, so you can feel you were there:

So lovely to be back in #Christchurch! I am here for a #nzccm Conservation meeting with 80 other delegates from all over the world, but mostly #newzealand. Christchurch had made international news in recent history for the 2011 earthquakes and the 2019 terror attack on a mosque. It is lovely to see the city gather itself and put the pieces back literally and figuratively. There is still work to do! It is interesting to compare it to the devastation I witnessed in Haiti when working with the Smithsonian to recover their works. 1) Avon River/Otakaro which runs through Christchurch. Used by Maori for food sources and is now used for punting tourists down the river. #2) Very controversial Christchurch cathedral. The church wants to demolish but others see the historic and cultural value. It has been a 9 year decision but it will be restored. 3 & 4) Tour of the Canterbury museum! I never dreamt when I first stepped foot in their in 2008 to work with the #antarcticheritagetrust that it would lead to the journey I have had in life. So great to see all of the hard work by the Conservators to pick up the pieces of the broken collection!
